Here’s something I never admitted on this weblog: I lived with my mother. It isn’t such a horrible thing, really, it’s just that being a 24 year old guy who lives with his mom isn’t the sort of thing I like to shout from the roof tops. We get along OK, and she’s great at the Mom/Roommate balancing act.
Why admit it now?
Well- I don’t live with my her anymore. Starting august 2nd she now is the HR person at Antenna Research Associates in Beltsville, MD. I’m keeping our apartment in uptown Harrisburg, PA. I like the neighborhood, I like having the balcony, I like being able to keep my cat– I like this apartment. I’ve joked for years about “kicking Mom out” and keeping this place. Well, I got my wish.
Of course, the apartment is only approximately half furnished– she took her bedroom and the dining room suite, I kept the living room stuff and all the furniture in my room– and there are plenty of spots where there previously was furniture that now need some serious cleaning. The work continues.
Amanda has been really helpful through all this, and even her mother kicked in a ton of dishes and assorted kitchen gadgets, and Mom left enough stuff for me to get started on life alone. I think I’m gonna be OK.
Meanwhile, Localfeeds.
Despite the busyness of the last few weeks, The rehab of Localfeeds.com has made more progress in the last few days than it has in months and months. The new crawler has already been turned loose on a outdated xml export from GeoURL.org that I had laying around and came out with over 3000 positive sites (positive being a site tagged with both geographic metadata and RSS or Atom auto-detection). Now I have it running through 1.5 million+ list of sites I created by merging data exports from Syndic8.com and the NTLE weblog census.
So, if you removed your sites geographic metadata in the last few months while both GeoURL and Localfeeds have been down, nows the time to put them back (Lisa, Alex)
